  1. 1.
Can I run Windows 8 Previews in Parallels Workstation?

Yes, many people are testing Windows 8 preview releases in Parallels Workstation today because it is a great way to test beta software.

However, it is not a fully supported guest operating system.  This means that there are known issues and we do not provide mainstream phone, email, chat or Skype support if you run in to issues.

There are known issues when running Windows 8 release previews, so read KB113533 before you set up a Windows 8 preview virtual machine.

  2. 2.
What are the Parallels Workstation hardware requirements?
    • Minimum 1.66 GHz x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) CPU.
    • To run 64-bit guest operating systems, a processor that supports the Intel VT-x hardware virtualization technology is recommended but not required.
      • The support for Intel VT-x and VT-d may be disabled by default in some computers that actually support them. To enable these features, in most cases enter BIOS, go to System Settings > Virtualization Support, and select the Enable Intel Virtualization and Enable Intel VT for Direct I/O check boxes. For detailed information on enabling the Intel VT-x and VT-d features in BIOS, refer to the OEM supplier's documentation.

    • 2 GB RAM minimum. 4 GB RAM or more is recommended.
    • 350 MB of hard disk space for the Parallels Workstation installation.
    • 30-60 GB of available hard disk space for each virtual machine.
