Tim Harmon - Principal Analyst, Forrester Research

Tim Harmon serves Technology Marketing Professionals in developing SMB go-to-market channels via the application of best practices, business plans, metrics, tools, resources, relationships, and competitive intelligence. His research focuses on the impact of cloud computing and digital marketing on demand chain business models. Tim is a leading expert on business applications software (enterprise resource planning, business intelligence, marketing automation, and social project/collaboration management) and networking and hardware technologies. Prior to joining Forrester, Tim served in executive management and mentoring roles in the vendor, user, industry analyst, and venture capital aspects of the IT industry. He has been a featured speaker at many industry conferences involving business intelligence, data warehousing, performance management, and enterprise applications and has been published in Austin-American Statesman, BI Review, DM Review, and Intelligent Enterprise.

Tod Nielsen - Senior Executive, Pivotal Initiative, EMC/VMware

Tod Nielsen joined VMware in January 2009 and lead the company’s application platform business as Co-President, bringing more than 20 years of leadership experience in enterprise software and application development. Most recently, he was president and chief executive officer of Borland Software, where he had led the company since November 2005. Prior to Borland, he served as senior vice president of marketing and global sales support for Oracle and was chief marketing officer and executive vice president of engineering at BEA Systems, where he oversaw BEA’s worldwide marketing strategy, operations and research and development. Nielsen joined BEA after the acquisition of his private company, Crossgain Inc., where he served as CEO. He also spent 12 years with Microsoft in various roles including general manager of database and developer tools, vice president of developer tools, and vice president of Microsoft’s platform group.

Birger Steen - Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Parallels

Birger Steen is CEO of Parallels, the world’s leading enabler of cloud computing services.

Birger started his professional career in 1992 as an oil trader at Norwegian Oil Trading, where he opened the company’s first office in the former Soviet Union. He joined McKinsey & Company in Norway in 1993. In 1996, he left McKinsey in to join his favorite client Schibsted ASA, a European media group, as Vice President of Business Development. In March 2000 he was named CEO of Scandinavia Online AB, the leading Nordic Internet portal, which was listed on the Stockholm and Oslo stock exchanges later that year. After selling the company in 2002, Birger briefly worked for the acquirer, Eniro AB, as Executive Vice President, Online and responsible for integrating the two companies.

Birger joined Microsoft in Norway in April 2002 as General Manager, Microsoft Norway. From October 2004 to June 2009, Birger was General Manager and Vice President, Microsoft Russia. During his tenure, Microsoft’s operations in Russia grew 10-fold in revenues, and Microsoft established representative offices in 23 cities from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok. In 2008, Microsoft Russia was named Russia’s “Best Employer” by the Wall Street Journal/Hewitt Associates. From June 2009 to August 2010, Birger served as Vice President of SMB & Distribution at Microsoft Corp. in Redmond, where his team drove Microsoft’s global SMB segment sales, marketing and distribution strategy.

Birger holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and Industrial Engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology in Trondheim. He also holds a degree in Russian Language and received his MBA from INSEAD in France. Birger was named “Best Top Manager” in the Russian IT industry by Kommersant/Russian Association of Managers in 2008.

Serguei Beloussov - Executive Chairman of the Board and Chief Architect, Parallels

Serguei Beloussov is a founder of Parallels and was formerly its CEO. He is a successful serial entrepreneur and executive with a 15+ year track record in building, growing, and leading high-performing, multinational, high tech companies in North America, Europe, and Asia. Under Serguei's leadership, Parallels quickly grew to profitability and top market positions in desktop virtualization, OS containers, and control panel offerings. He holds a B.S. in Physics, an M.S. in Physics and Electrical Engineering with High Honors, and a PhD in Computer Science from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
