Singapore, - April 10, 2000 - ASPLinux, Inc., a start-up software development company, was showcasing the preview of its ASPLinux - the first Singapore-made Linux distribution at COMDEX Singapore from 5-7 April and reveals its plans to officially launch the complete OS in June, 2000.

ASPLinux is the high-performance Linux-based operating system, with full range of features you would expect from a modern fledged Unix, including true 32 bit processing, multitasking, virtual memory, shared libraries, proper memory management and TCP/IP networking.

"We tried to make our installation the easiest among available distributions, putting special effort to make it simple and to some extent familiar for Windows users. Despite the fact that our ASPComplete products target specific needs of Application Service Providers, ASPLinux itself is quite generic-purpose distribution and we feel that seamless installation and carefully tuned desktop is really important for users who want to try a new OS and expect it to be user friendly and easy to use", said Stanislav Protasov, VP of Engineering.

ASPLinux is ideal for first-time or casual users who want to experience the power of progressive operating system. It bundles the best available applications making OS suitable for both home and business use. ASPLinux is oriented to small-mid range businesses and provides infrastructure for enabling ASP model and remote delivering of applications. It targets to ASPs (Application Service Providers), ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) who want to move to ASP model, ISP (Internet Service Providers), NSP (Network Solution Providers, various hosting companies and Data Centres, and corporate customers who require high-availability ASP-like solutions.

"We built our ASPLinux with the growing ASP's market in mind. In order to dramatically simplify ASP's business operations and enable our Linux distribution to become OS of choice for ASPs, the complete product set will include the following components built on top of ASPLinux

  • ASPvC - Virtual Cluster: allows to run multiply personalized virtual environments on any of the physical servers in the cluster;
  • ASPC - HA/LB Cluster: completely cross-platform, high availability cluster solution for ASPs with sophisticated load balancing capabilities;
  • ASPum - Usage Monitor: track, store and report various usage parameters: business and database transactions, application functionality usage, feature time usage, etc.;
  • ASPdC - Data Cluster: multi-server, fault-tolerant, redundant, secure, and open data cluster"
added Juri Tsibrovski, Chief Architect of ASPLinux.

ASPLinux, Inc. is seeking to forge more strategic alliances with quality business partners within the software industry, through partnership with ISPs, ASPs, Educational and Government institutions, NSPs, hardware OEMs and VARs.
